Call forwarding redirects calls from your primary phone number (for example, an existing business number) to Beside.
You may want to turn it off in some situations, such as:
You want to start using your Beside number exclusively
You want to forward a different number to Beside
You want calls to your primary number to ring directly on your device, not inside Beside
You've canceled your Beside subscription
You're about to delete the Beside mobile app
You're switching Beside to a new device
You're troubleshooting call delivery or ringing issues
📚 If you're looking to set up call forwarding instead, see How to enable call forwarding to Beside?
⚠️ Important: disable call forwarding before deleting Beside
If you’re deleting the Beside app or canceling your subscription, make sure to disable call forwarding first.
If call forwarding remains enabled:
Calls to your primary number may continue routing to Beside
This can happen even if the app is deleted
And even if your subscription is canceled
While Beside provides step-by-step guidance to help you disable call forwarding, it cannot disable it on your behalf. Call forwarding is controlled by your mobile carrier, so the final change must be applied at the carrier level.
How call forwarding is controlled
Call forwarding is always controlled by your mobile carrier, meaning the provider that owns your phone number (for example: Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T).
Because of this:
Beside does not directly control call forwarding settings
Beside cannot override carrier-level rules
While Beside provides step-by-step guidance in the mobile app to help you enable or disable call forwarding, the actual activation or deactivation is performed by your carrier.
If calls continue to forward after you’ve followed the steps below, we recommend reaching out directly to your carrier’s support team so they can reset or fully disable call forwarding on their side.
ℹ️ Universal rule for disabling Call Forwarding
How you disable call forwarding usually depends on how it was originally enabled:
Enabled via dialer code → it must be disabled using carrier codes
Enabled via mobile settings → it must be disabled from those same settings
VoIP number (Google Voice, cloud phone systems, etc.) → it must be disabled in the provider’s app or admin dashboard
Disable Call Forwarding on VoIP numbers
☁️ Follow these steps if your phone number is hosted by a VoIP provider, such as:
➡️ Google Voice, Zoom, Twilio, RingCentral, Vonage, Dialpad, OpenPhone, Ooma, Grasshopper, Nextiva.
Call forwarding is managed inside the provider’s app or admin dashboard
Disabling forwarding from mobile phone settings is not supported
Beside cannot control or override VoIP forwarding
Once completed, calls should stop forwarding to Beside and start ringing directly on your device's native phone app again. ✅
ℹ️ Some VoIP providers do not support forwarding to Beside at all
If you’re unsure whether forwarding is supported or fully disabled, contact your provider directly.

Still forwarding?
➡️ If calls are still forwarding after disabling:
Restart your mobile device
Test with a different phone number (self-calls may not ring)
Contact your carrier’s support team
Only the carrier can fully disable call forwarding.
Important considerations
✔️ Verify deactivation with your carrier
Always confirm with your carrier that call forwarding is fully disabled.
Some carriers require additional confirmation or backend processing, even after you dial the correct code.
✔️ Support limitations
Beside Support cannot enable, disable, or troubleshoot carrier-side call forwarding.
Only the carrier that owns your phone number can fully manage call forwarding settings.
❌ Google Voice (incompatible with Beside call forwarding)
Google Voice has known limitations that make it incompatible with reliable call forwarding to Beside.
If you’ve forwarded a Google Voice number to Beside, calls may:
fail to ring correctly
route inconsistently
continue forwarding even after disabling in Beside
👉 For this reason, Google Voice forwarding should be disabled when using Beside.
➡️ How to disable Google Voice forwarding:
Go to voice.google.com and sign in to your Google account
Click the ⚙️ Settings icon (top right)
In the Calls menu, scroll to the Linked numbers section.
Find your Beside number and click Remove
