Auto Censor Messages

Enable Auto Censor Messages in Beside to replace sensitive words in your texts and prevent carriers from blocking your messages.

Some mobile carriers automatically block or filter text messages that contain certain sensitive or flagged words. Auto Censor Messages replaces those words with neutral alternatives before your message is sent, helping ensure your texts are delivered without interruption.

This setting applies to outgoing messages sent from your Beside line.

How it works

When Auto Censor Messages is enabled, Beside automatically scans your outgoing texts for words commonly flagged by carriers and replaces them before delivery. The content and meaning of your message are preserved - only the potentially blocked terms are substituted.

📌 This setting only affects outgoing text messages from your Beside line. It does not apply to calls, voicemails, or AI Receptionist replies.

Enable Auto Censor Messages

From the mobile app (iPhone & Android)

  1. Open the Beside mobile app → go to Settings

  2. Tap the line you want to manage under Phone Numbers

  3. Tap Auto Censor Messages

  4. Toggle Auto Censor Messages on

From the web dashboard

  1. Go to app.beside.com → click Phone Numbers in the left sidebar

  2. Click the line you want to manage

  3. Scroll to Compliance & Privacy → toggle Auto Censor Messages on

FAQ

Will my recipients notice that words have been replaced?

In most cases, no. The substitutions are designed to preserve the meaning of your message while avoiding terms that trigger carrier filters.

Does this affect messages sent by the AI Receptionist?

No. Auto Censor Messages applies to outgoing texts you send manually from your Beside line. AI Receptionist replies are handled separately and are not affected by this toggle.

Is this setting shared across the team on a shared line?

Yes. On a shared line, this is a line-level setting that applies to all outgoing messages from that line, regardless of which team member sends them.
