Experiencing dropped or failed calls with Beside?

This guide covers the most common reasons why calls might not go through - and how to fix them quickly.

We've also included tips to troubleshoot call quality issues caused by poor internet connection or misconfigured settings, so you can get back to communicating smoothly.

1️⃣ T-Mobile to T-Mobile calls fail

Issue: Calls may fail if:

  • You are forwarding a T-Mobile number to Beside

  • and you have Caller ID enabled in Beside

  • and are calling another T-Mobile number

👉 Solution: Disable Caller ID in Beside settings before making the call.

2️⃣ AT&T Call Forwarding

Issue: A small number of AT&T users (~5%) may experience issues when forwarding their AT&T number to Beside. This can result in dropped calls, no audio, or missed rings.

This is a known limitation with how AT&T handles call forwarding to third-party numbers like Beside. Unfortunately, there’s no fix we can apply on our end.

👉 Solution:

If you’re affected, you have two options:

  • Use your assigned Beside number directly, without forwarding from AT&T

  • Or forward a number from a different carrier (e.g., Verizon) instead.

3️⃣ International calls are not supported

Issue: Beside currently supports calls only to U.S. and Canadian numbers. If you’re trying to call a number outside these regions, your call will fail.

👉 Solution:

  • If you need to make international calls, use your personal carrier’s international calling plan.

  • You can still receive international calls if the caller is dialing your Beside number.

4️⃣ Call Forwarding conflicts

Issue: If Call Forwarding is misconfigured, incoming calls may not go through.

👉 Solution:

5️⃣ Poor internet connection

It is important to understand how to test and switch between network types to ensure optimal performance.

Issue: Beside relies on Wi-Fi or mobile data for calls. If your connection is weak, calls may fail.

👉 Solution:

  • Ensure you’re connected to a strong, stable internet connection.

  • Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

  • Lastly, try switching to your cellular network ⬇️

Access the troubleshooting menu during a call to switch networks seamlessly without hanging up:

  • tap the 🛜 icon in the top right corner of the screen.

  • choose “Call with Cellular network.”

  • If needed, tap “Hang up & call with cellular.”
