Option available today: Port your Google Voice number to Beside
While direct call forwarding from Google Voice to Beside is not fully supported due to technical limitations between the two services, you can still use your Google Voice number by porting it to Beside.
This guide explains exactly how to do that.
1️⃣ Unlock your Google Voice number
Before porting, your number must be unlocked.
Visit the Google Voice Settings page
Under the “Account” section, locate your Google Voice number
Confirm the unlock (Google may charge a $3 fee)
2️⃣ Gather the required information
You’ll need:
Account number: your 10-digit Google Voice number
PIN: your Google Voice voicemail PIN (If you haven’t set one or have forgotten it, you can reset it in the Google Voice settings)
Proof of ownership: A bill or a screenshot of your Google Voice account showing both your name and phone number.
3️⃣ Start the porting process with Beside
Start from your app settings
Go to Settings → Your inbox → Configure Number → Port & Replace, chose Google Voice, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Submit your documents directly in the app
Everything is handled through the porting flow, no need to contact Support unless you need help.
Verification by Support
Once you’ve completed all steps, your information is automatically sent to the Beside Support team.They will review the details and documents, validate everything is correct, and submit the porting request on your behalf.
Wait for confirmation: porting usually takes 1–2 weeks, often less than a week.
Start using Beside: Once complete, your number will work seamlessly in Beside.
The porting process can take up to two weeks, but in most cases, it is completed within one week.
During this time, your Google Voice number will continue to work until the port is complete.
ℹ️ Important considerations
📶 Service continuity
There should be no disruption in service during the porting process.
🔁 After porting
Once the porting is complete, your Google Voice number will function as your Beside number, and the original Beside-assigned number will be replaced.
🔐 About 2FA (Authentication Codes)
Beside currently does not support receiving two-factor authentication (2FA) messages, such as codes sent by banks or online services. If 2FA is essential to your use case, we recommend keeping your current provider.
