Once the porting process is complete, your old provider transfers ownership of your phone number to Beside. All calls and texts will now be handled directly inside the Beside mobile app.
Follow the steps below to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Steps to complete after porting
1. Relaunch the Beside app
Once you're notified that your number has been successfully ported, fully close and reopen the Beside mobile app. This ensures it picks up your newly ported number and updated settings.
2. Confirm number removal with your former carrier
Beside manages the porting request, but your former carrier won't always automatically cancel your plan.
📌 Recommended:
Contact your previous carrier to confirm your number has been removed from their system and your plan has been cancelled. This helps avoid extra billing, prorated charges, and accidental plan renewals.
3. Disable call forwarding
If you had call forwarding enabled to your Beside number before porting, make sure to disable it. Your ported number now is your Beside number - forwarding is no longer needed and may cause conflicts in your call setup.
Common issues
Port still in progress
If your ported number doesn't appear in Beside yet, the transfer may still be completing. Porting typically takes under 1 week, but can take up to 2 weeks depending on your previous carrier.
Incompatibility with mobile data plans
Beside doesn't support numbers tied to mobile data plans (such as Verizon or T-Mobile postpaid lines). If you port such a number, your data plan with that carrier will be cancelled in the process.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) limitations
Beside currently doesn't support receiving 2FA codes via SMS. If you rely on SMS-based verification for other apps or services, we recommend setting up an alternative number for those before porting.

No - your number stays active during the transfer. You won't experience any service interruption while the port is in progress.

My port is taking longer than expected - what should I do?
Delays are most often caused by a restriction on your previous carrier's side. Contact your former carrier directly to check if any holds or restrictions are in place, or if they need additional steps from you to release the number.

I disabled call forwarding but I'm still missing calls - what's wrong?
Make sure forwarding is also disabled at the carrier level, not just inside Beside. On iPhone, check Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. Some carriers require you to dial a code (like ##002#) to cancel all forwarding. Check with your previous carrier if you're unsure.
I use SMS 2FA - what should I do before porting?
I use SMS 2FA - what should I do before porting?
Before porting, update your 2FA method for any important accounts (banking, email, etc.) to use an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy) or a different phone number. Beside doesn't currently support receiving SMS-based 2FA codes.
