Blocking a contact prevents them from reaching you through your Beside number, including calls, voicemails, and text messages. Here’s how it works and how to manage it.

🚫 How to block a contact

You can block contacts directly from a conversation in your inbox. First, navigate to the Inbox tab, then:

  • Option 1 - From conversation list: Long press on the conversation you want to block, then tap Block Contact.

  • Option 2 - From inside the conversation: Open the conversation, tap the contact’s name or number at the top of the screen, and then tap Block.

📣 Important (per-inbox blocking)

If you manage multiple Beside inboxes (multiple numbers), blocking a contact in one inbox does not block them in your other inboxes.

Each inbox has its own separate block list.

⚠️ What you cannot do

❌ Block from the Contacts tab

You cannot block from Contacts because that tab mirrors your iPhone’s native contacts. Changes made there must be done through the iOS Contacts app.

❌ Block other Beside users

Blocking another Beside user is currently not supported.

This is something we plan to improve in a future update.

📌 What happens when you block someone?

When you block a contact in Beside:

  • They cannot call / text your Beside number

  • They cannot leave voicemails

  • Their calls/messages will not appear in your Inbox or call history

In short: they cannot reach you through your Beside number at all.

Note: Blocking in Beside does not block callers on your primary SIM number.

To block someone on your iPhone line, use the native iOS “Block this Caller” option.

📋 How to view (and manage) blocked contacts

You can easily review your blocked list:

  1. Open the Beside app.

  2. Go to the Settings tab.

  3. Choose your inbox

  4. Scroll down to the Privacy section

  5. Tap Blocked to view or manage your list

Blocked contacts will appear there, and you can unblock them at any time if needed.
