After a call handled by your AI Receptionist, Beside creates an action card in the conversation - for example a reminder to call the person back, with an option to mark a repeat caller as a Priority Caller. Those cards live in the chat thread, but they're easy to miss when your Beside lines get busy.
Review is a single queue for every conversation that still needs a decision. Open it from the Inbox tab, work through what's waiting, take action straight from the card, or jump into the chat when you need more context.
π Availability:
Your AI Receptionist must be set up - cards are only created after AI-handled calls, so Review stays empty without it (π Set up your AI Receptionist to answer calls).
Available in the Beside mobile app on iPhone and iPad - not yet on Android, π Beside on the web, or π Beside for macOS.
Make sure you're on the latest version of the Beside app.
Open Review from the Inbox tab
Open the Beside mobile app and go to the Inbox tab.
At the top of the screen, tap Review (next to Number and Ask Beside).
The Activity modal opens with everything that still needs a follow-up, grouped by conversation.
A small number on the Review shortcut tells you how many conversations are waiting. The count is per conversation, not per card - if one contact has two pending follow-ups, it counts as one.
π‘ If you have multiple Beside lines, the count on All shows the total across every line you can manage. Filter to a single line to see only its follow-ups.
What's inside Review
Each row is one conversation. You'll see the contact's name or number, when the activity happened, and a card previewing what needs your attention.
Today, your AI Receptionist creates Callback cards - when a call your AI handled needs urgent follow-up. The card title tells you what's needed: Callback requested, Quote requested, Scheduling requested, or Complaint filed. Each card includes:
Call back - the main action, which dials the caller through Beside.
Mark top client - a secondary action that flags the caller as a Priority Caller, so they're easy to spot in the future. Tapping it does not resolve the card - the card stays active and the button switches to Remove top client, which untags the caller. The flag is the same one you can toggle from the caller's profile.
Conversations are grouped by time: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, and Older. Newest activity appears first within each section.
π‘ Shared lines: Any member of a shared Beside line can act on the cards for that line - the actions aren't restricted to admins.
Unread vs. read
Conversations you haven't seen yet appear on a white background. Once you've opened or actioned a conversation, its row turns grey so you can tell at a glance what's already been handled. Read conversations stay in place - they don't move - so you can scroll back through your activity history.
Tap the filter icon (the funnel) to toggle Show unread only if you want to hide what you've already handled.
Take action on a follow-up
You can either act directly from the card, or open the full conversation.
Tap an action on the card (for example Call back or Mark top client) to run it right away. It behaves the same as it does in the chat thread.
Tap the conversation header to dismiss the Activity sheet and open the chat in the Inbox tab.
Pull down on the list to refresh and pick up any new follow-ups Beside has created since you opened the sheet.
Only Call back resolves the card - once you've called the contact back, the card switches to a resolved state with a Called checkmark, so you can see what you've already handled. Mark top client keeps the card active so you can still call the contact back afterwards. Opening a conversation from Review also marks it as read, and the count on the Review shortcut goes down.
π‘ On your lock screen: When you have an active callback to make, Beside shows a Live Activity on your iPhone lock screen so you can tap to call back without opening the app. (You won't get a push notification when a new card is created - Live Activities are the only at-a-glance signal.)
FAQ
What triggers a follow-up card?
What triggers a follow-up card?
Cards are created after calls your AI Receptionist handles. Calls you pick up yourself, missed calls that didn't reach the AI, and text-only conversations don't create cards today.
A Callback card is created when the AI's summary detects an urgent intent on the call (callback, quote, scheduling, or complaint).
How do I mark a contact as a Priority Caller?
How do I mark a contact as a Priority Caller?
Priority Caller is a flag you set on a caller - it works for anyone who has called you, whether or not they're saved in your phone's contacts. The flag is currently available on the Beside mobile app on iPhone and iPad only.
There are two ways to mark a contact as a Priority Caller:
From the caller's profile: Open the conversation with the caller, tap their name at the top to open the profile, then toggle Priority Caller on.
From Review: On a Callback card in Review, tap Mark top client to apply the flag in one tap.
Once enabled, a Priority Caller chip appears on the conversation in your Inbox and at the top of the chat, so they're easy to spot. To remove the flag, toggle Priority Caller off from the caller's profile, or tap Remove top client on the Callback card in Review.
Why does the count on Review not match what's in the list?
Why does the count on Review not match what's in the list?
The count reflects conversations that still need a decision - not how many cards are inside. The count also drops when you open a conversation from Review, even if the card itself hasn't been resolved yet.
Why did an old follow-up disappear from the count?
Why did an old follow-up disappear from the count?
Review uses a 30-day window. If no new card has been created on a conversation for more than 30 days, that conversation no longer adds to the Review count - even if the original card is still active.
The conversation itself is still listed in Older, so you can still find it and act on it - it just no longer pulls your attention.
Why don't I see Review on my Inbox tab?
Why don't I see Review on my Inbox tab?
A few reasons this can happen:
App version: Review is available in Beside on iPhone and iPad on the latest app version. Update the app from the App Store if needed.
AI Receptionist not set up: Review only fills up once your AI Receptionist is handling calls. If you haven't set it up yet, the queue will stay empty (π Set up your AI Receptionist to answer calls).
Platform: Review is only available in the Beside mobile app on iPhone and iPad - not on Android, π Beside on the web, or π Beside for macOS.
Can I dismiss or hide a follow-up I don't plan to act on?
Can I dismiss or hide a follow-up I don't plan to act on?
Not today. Opening the conversation from Review marks it as read - the row turns grey so you can tell it's been handled, even though it stays in the list. If a contact is generating follow-ups you never want to see, blocking the contact will stop new ones from being created.
