Convert, in the Grow section of the left menu, follows the people who already found you: how many reach out, how many end up in a real conversation, how many book, and how many pay.
Getting found is measured separately. 📖 Understand your Demand score
📌 "Convert" means two things on this page: The page covers your whole customer funnel. One of the four stages inside it is also called Convert - the step from enquiry to qualified lead. When this article says the Convert stage, it means that step.
Your funnel score
One number out of 100, with a word for what it means - Good, and a sentence such as You score well on turning demand into paying customers. Underneath, the four stages that make it up, each with its own score.
Score over time next to it shows the trend since your first audit, up or down, in points. A score that drifts down while you are busy is worth more than a snapshot.
Everything on this page reads the last 90 days, and the date it was last updated is at the top.
Your customer funnel
Five steps, from first contact to paying customer, with the share of people who make it through each one and the number of real people behind it:
Step | What it counts |
Reached out | Everyone who made contact - the starting point, always 100% |
Conversation | Those who got an actual exchange with you, not a missed call |
Became qualified | Those with a real need you can act on |
Booked appointment | Those who got into your calendar |
Became customer | Those who paid |
Underneath, the money: what you collect each month from new customers, what you collect from your existing base, and the total. Plus how many repeat visits your existing customers made.
💡 Read the two revenue lines together: Most local businesses discover their existing base brings in far more than new customers do. If that is true for you, work on Retain before pouring money into ads.
Revenue opportunity
A monthly figure for what reaching each stage's goal would be worth at today's volumes - not a projection of growth, just the money already passing through your funnel that you are not keeping.
Beside is explicit that it is a floor: each fix is sized on its own, so fixing several can beat the total. It also tells you how many of the four stages it has been able to measure so far, so you know how complete the figure is.
The four stages
Each one names a transition in your customer's journey, scores it, tells you in plain words where people are being lost, prices the gap, and gives you the fastest fix.
Stage | The question it answers |
Convert | Do enquiries turn into real needs you can act on? |
Close | Do qualified leads become paying customers? |
Retain | Do customers come back, as often as they should? |
Grow | Can happy customers bring in new ones? |
The diagnosis is specific rather than generic. Instead of improve your conversion, you get the actual number and the actual cause - for example only 39% of your qualified leads become paying customers; most of the loss comes after booking: 35% of booked jobs never pay - no-shows, cancellations, unapproved estimates, with Fastest fix: Appointment reminders.
Open any stage for the detail behind its score.
📌 Grow usually stays unscored for a while, on purpose: Beside holds it back until the leaks above it are closed. Turning happy customers into advocates is worth little while most of your enquiries never reach a conversation - so it tells you to fix the funnel before chasing referrals.
Where the numbers come from
Your calls and texts, your calendar, and your customer system. Every person in the funnel is a real contact in your Customers list, carrying the stage Beside placed them at and the reason why.
That is why a missing connector shows up here as a missing stage: without your jobs and invoices, Beside cannot see who actually paid.
FAQ
Why is Grow "Not measured"?
Why is Grow "Not measured"?
Usually because Beside is deliberately holding it back: growth levers are worth little while there are leaks earlier in the funnel. It will score once the stages above it are in better shape, or once there is enough data to say something useful.
What is a "fastest fix"?
What is a "fastest fix"?
The single change that would move that stage most for the least effort - business hours, appointment reminders, a follow-up after every job. It is a starting point, not the only thing that would help, and it is the sort of work your agent can take on.
Is the revenue opportunity a real number?
Is the revenue opportunity a real number?
It is what each stage would be worth if it reached its goal at the volumes you already have - so it does not assume you win more customers, only that you lose fewer. Beside calls it a floor because each fix is priced on its own, and it tells you how many stages it covers.
My score went down and I did not do anything differently.
My score went down and I did not do anything differently.
The score reads the last 90 days, so it moves as your recent activity moves - a busy month with more missed calls will pull it down even if nothing about your business changed. The stage that dropped will tell you which one.
My score is low. Is something broken?
My score is low. Is something broken?
No. A low score points at a leak in your customer journey, not at a fault in Beside - and each stage tells you exactly where it is and what it is costing you.
