Demand, in the Grow section of the left menu, answers one question: how easily do customers find you online, and what do they see when deciding whether to trust you?
It is the first half of your customer journey. What happens to the people who do find you is measured separately. 📖 Understand your Convert score
Which market Beside measures you in
At the top, How we measure your visibility tells you the area Beside is scoring you in and why - for example, because you are a service-area business serving customers across that market rather than a shop people walk into.
This matters: being invisible in a city you do not serve is not a problem, and Beside should not be telling you it is.
📌 Beside does not paper over a missing measurement: If it has not been able to measure your market yet, it says so plainly - No final measurement is available for this market yet - and leaves the score blank. It will not substitute an old or partial number to fill the space.
Search coverage by market
This is the list of things your buyers actually type. Each market keeps its own searches, its own demand, and its own measured ranking.
Every search carries how Beside judged it:
Strong hiring intent - someone typing this is looking to hire, now
Legacy intent evidence - Beside is working from older evidence for this one
And where you stand on it, for both Google Search and Google Maps.
Your five ranking objectives
Out of everything people search for, Beside picks five to actually work on, and keeps them stable for at least 42 days. Those same five drive its work on your website, your Google Business Profile and your ads - so the whole machine pulls in one direction instead of chasing a different keyword every week.
Each objective shows its monthly search volume and the same goal: top 3 on Maps, page one in Search, and recommended in AI answers.
Four places you are measured
Surface | What you see |
Google Search | Your position, and the actual page-one results - so you can see exactly who is above you |
Google Maps | Your position, plus a map and the businesses ranking ahead of you, with their ratings and review counts |
ChatGPT | Whether you get recommended when someone asks an assistant instead of searching |
Gemini | The same, on Google's assistant |
More and more people ask an AI assistant rather than typing into a search box, and those answers name a handful of businesses. Being in that handful is now part of being findable, which is why Beside measures it alongside Search and Maps.
Validating on one of those means Beside has not got a usable answer sample yet, not that you are absent.
Under each objective, Work tied to this objective lists what Beside is doing about it, with the state of each - including the ones you skipped.
Local visibility
How often you appear when high-intent local buyers search for the services that matter. Beside measures it from your linked Google profile and the service zones you have declared, and tells you when it was last refreshed.
Reputation and sentiment
Your Google reputation, scored, with the facts behind it rather than a black-box number: your average rating, how many reviews you have, how many new ones arrive each month, how many you have answered, your latest one, and how many are still waiting on a reply.
What customers say adds what they consistently praise or question, once Beside has run a fresh review audit.
💡 Why your score may not move yet: Beside needs at least three measured direct local competitors before their median affects your score. Until it has them, it tells you the current count rather than comparing you against nothing.
Paid acquisition
What your ads actually brought in, measured from spend through to qualified leads. It is shown here but kept out of your score - buying visibility is not the same as having it.
If Beside flags a Tracking issue, fix that before judging or scaling a campaign: the numbers underneath it are not yet trustworthy.
Competition
What good looks like among the businesses serving the same customers as you. Directories and publishers are listed separately - being beaten by a national directory is a different problem from being beaten by the plumber two streets away.
Your competitor set appears after Beside's next competitive audit.
What Beside does about it
Every gap Beside measures here turns into work. The Takeaway at the top says how many actions are currently tied to your visibility and reputation gaps, and each one is linked back to the measurement that justified it.
Nothing on this page is measurement for its own sake.
FAQ
Everything says "Not measured". Is something wrong?
Everything says "Not measured". Is something wrong?
No - it is normal early on. Beside needs your Google Business Profile connected, your service areas declared, and enough real activity before it can put a number on a market. It shows you what it is still missing rather than inventing a score.
How often does this update?
How often does this update?
Whenever Beside learns something new about your business, again about a week after any completed work so the effect has had time to show, and on a full re-audit roughly every two weeks. Each block tells you when it was last refreshed.
Why does Beside care what ChatGPT says about me?
Why does Beside care what ChatGPT says about me?
Because a growing share of customers ask an assistant instead of searching, and the answer names only a few businesses. If you are not among them you are invisible to those customers, exactly as if you were on page four of Google.
Why only five objectives?
Why only five objectives?
Because ranking takes time, and switching targets resets the clock. Beside holds the same five for at least six weeks and points your website, your listing and your ads at them together. Chasing twenty keywords at once is how businesses end up ranking for none.
My scores are low. Is something broken?
My scores are low. Is something broken?
No. A low score points at a gap in how customers find you, not at a fault in Beside - and it is exactly the kind of work Beside is there to take on.
