Post updates to your Google profile

Google Posts in Beside Agentic: send photos of finished jobs in by email or drop them in, and Beside writes and publishes updates on your Google Business Profile on the schedule you choose.

Your Google Business Profile has an updates section that most businesses never touch. Posts, in the Grow section of the left menu, is where Beside keeps it going for you.

You supply photos of the jobs you finish. Beside writes each update from one of them and publishes it to your profile, where customers see it next to your photos and reviews in Search and Maps.

There is no compose box on purpose. The point is that you stop thinking about your Google profile, not that you get another thing to write.

Why a quiet profile costs you

A profile with no activity for months reads as a business that may have closed. A steady cadence is the cheapest way to show both Google and a customer that you are open and working.

Every update carries a photo of real work, so someone weighing you up has something to look at rather than only something to read.

📌 Posts do not change your Visibility score: Beside tracks profile activity as a diagnostic, not as something scored. Unlike your Google reputation, posting does not move the number. It is still worth doing, for the reasons above. 📖 Understand your Visibility score

What Beside needs to start

Two things, and then it runs on its own:

  1. Your Google Business Profile connected. Until it is, the page offers you the connection and nothing is published. 📖 Connect your Google Business Profile

  2. At least one photo in the pool. Without one there is nothing to build an update from.

Four ways to get photos in

Photos ready to post shows how many are waiting, with thumbnails. Remove any you would rather not see published.

Email them from your phone

Email photos in gives you an address of your own. Select Copy, save it as a contact on your phone, and send photos to it at the end of a job. They land straight in the pool.

This is the one that sticks, because it needs nothing but your camera roll and the share sheet you already use.

If the address ever gets out, Change address replaces it with a new one. The old address stops working.

Add them in Beside

Select Add photos on the Photos ready to post card, or drag photos straight onto it.

Pick from recent work

Photos from recent work lists the jobs you have just finished and the customers who have just reviewed you, so you are reminded of what is worth photographing. Add a photo to any of them and it becomes your next update.

Use what Beside already found

When the pool is empty, Photos Beside already found offers images it has gathered from your Google profile, your website, your Instagram and your reviews, each labelled with where it came from.

💡 What makes a good photo:

  • Finished work reads better than a storefront or a logo. A photo taken on your phone at the end of a job is exactly right.

  • Google needs a JPG or PNG between 10KB and 5MB, so a screenshot or a tiny logo file will be rejected.

How often Beside posts

You choose, on the Next update card:

Schedule

Who it suits

Twice a week

A shop finishing several jobs a day, with plenty to show

Every week

The default, and right for most businesses

Every two weeks

A slower trade, where a weekly update would repeat itself

Every month

A solo operator who would rather post rarely than post filler

There is also a switch for whether Beside adds each photo to your Google photo gallery as well as posting it.

Next update tells you when the next one is due, or what is holding it up:

What it says

What it means

On schedule

A photo is ready and the next update goes out on the day shown. Nothing for you to do.

Publishing soon

An update is written and goes out on its own shortly. You can still stop it from the list below.

Waiting on photos

The pool is empty, so no date is shown: without a photo there is nothing to schedule.

Waiting for your approval

An update is written and waiting on you, in the list below.

Photos need replacing

What is in the pool is not something Google will accept. Add a normal phone photo.

Cannot reach Google

Beside could not read your profile and will not publish without checking it first. It retries on its own.

Not posting yet

Your Google Business Profile is not connected yet.

How your profile looks right now

The card at the top of the page judges one thing only: how long it has been since anything was published. It is about your profile, not about Beside, so it stays red while nothing has gone out even when your agent is working perfectly and simply has no photos.

What it says

When

Profile looks active

Your last update was in the past few days

Going quiet

It has been about a week. Another one soon keeps the profile looking worked on.

Profile looks dormant

Ten days or more. This is the state that reads as a closed business.

No updates yet

Nothing has been published to your profile yet

Work through your updates

Updates lists everything Beside has written, newest first, each with its state:

State

What it means

Waiting for you

Written and ready. Select Approve and publish, or Skip this one.

Publishing

On its way to Google

Live on Google

Published. View on Google opens it as customers see it.

You declined this

You skipped it, and it was not published

Didn't publish

Google refused it. The reason is shown on the update.

Once anything has been published, Open Google Profile at the top of the page takes you to your profile itself.

Whether updates wait for you

That is your autonomy for Reviews & Google profile, the same setting that governs your review replies. On Ask first, every update waits in the list for your approval. On Auto, Beside publishes them itself and you see them afterwards.

A published update costs 50 credits. Writing one, and looking at it before you decide, costs nothing. 📖 Understand your plan and credits

Troubleshooting

Nothing has been published. Read Next update first, because it names the actual reason rather than a generic one. The two common answers are that your Google Business Profile is not connected, or that the photo pool is empty.

You emailed photos and nothing arrived. Check the address you sent to against the one on the Email photos in card, since Change address retires the previous one. Photos Google will not accept are also dropped: see the size and format note above.

Your photos keep getting rejected. Google needs a JPG or PNG between 10KB and 5MB. Screenshots, logos and images pulled from a website often fail on one of those. A photo from your phone camera almost never does.

An update says "Didn't publish". The reason Google gave is shown on the update itself. Beside keeps the photo, so adding a fresh one and waiting for the next run is usually enough.

FAQ

Can I just text or email photos in?

Email, yes. Email photos in gives you an address of your own: save it as a contact and send photos to it straight from your camera roll. They go into the pool for your next update. Texting photos in is not supported.

Can I write a post myself?

Not on this page, by design: it is a record of what has gone out, not an editor. Add the photo you want published and Beside writes the update around it. You can still post by hand from Google Business Profile itself, and Beside will count it when judging how active your profile looks.

Can I change what Beside wrote before it goes out?

On Ask first you decide whether it goes out, with Approve and publish or Skip this one. If an update is not right, skipping it is the way to stop it, and the next one is built from a different photo.

Is this the same as posting on Facebook or Instagram?

No. These are Google Business Profile updates only, the panel customers scroll past under your photos and reviews on Search and Maps. Nothing is posted to any social network.

How often should Beside post?

Every week suits most businesses and is the default. Go to twice a week only if you genuinely finish enough jobs to have something new to show, and slow to every two weeks or every month if a weekly update would start repeating itself. A steady rhythm is what makes a profile look worked on; filler does not.

With it on, each photo Beside posts is also added to the photo gallery on your Google profile, not only to the update. That is the set of images customers browse when they tap through your listing.

Will posting improve my ranking?

Beside does not claim that, and does not score it. What a steady cadence reliably does is stop your profile reading as a business that may have closed, and give someone comparing you a recent photo of real work to look at.

What happens to photos I never use?

They stay in the pool and are available for a future update. You can remove any of them from Photos ready to post if you would rather they were never published.
