Beside does not have its own ringtone settings.
Instead, the app uses your device’s ringtone settings, on both iOS and Android. This means:
Changing your phone’s ringtone = changes your Beside ringtone
Custom contact ringtones also apply to Beside
All ringtone behavior is controlled by your device, not by the Beside app
📌 Important: this article only applies to incoming call ringtones. It does not apply to the sounds you hear when you place a call (outgoing call tones, like ringing or “call waiting” sounds).
Those tones are controlled by carriers and cannot be changed in Beside.
🔔 How Beside uses your ringtone
Beside automatically follows your phone’s ringtone configuration:
Your default device ringtone
Any custom ringtone set per contact
Your volume, silent mode, Focus/Do Not Disturb settings
There are no ringtone settings inside Beside.
🎵 How to change your ringtone
on iPhone
Open Settings: Tap on the Settings app on your iPhone’s home screen.
Navigate to Sounds & Haptics: Scroll down and select
Sounds & Haptics.Select Ringtone: Tap on
Ringtoneat the top of the list.Choose Your Ringtone: You’ll see a list of available ringtones. Tap on any ringtone to hear a preview.
Set the Ringtone: Once you’ve found a ringtone you like, simply leave it selected. Your choice will be automatically saved.
Your new ringtone will now play for incoming Beside calls!
on Android
On Android, ringtone settings vary slightly depending on your phone model (Samsung, Pixel, etc.), but the steps are generally similar.
Open Settings
Tap Sound & vibration (or Sounds and notifications)
Tap Phone ringtone
Select your preferred ringtone
Confirm or tap Save (if required)
📌 Tip: Some Android devices allow choosing ringtones from files or music stored on your phone.
Beside will use whichever ringtone you select here.
👤 Set a custom ringtone for specific contacts (optional)
If you’d like to assign specific ringtones to individual contacts:
on iPhone
Open Contacts: Go to your Contacts app.
Select a Contact: Tap on the contact you want to personalize.
Edit Contact: Tap
Editin the top-right corner.Assign Ringtone: Scroll down and tap on
Ringtone.Choose a Ringtone: Select the ringtone you’d like for this contact and tap
Done.Save Changes: Tap
Doneagain to save your changes.
on Android
Steps can vary, but generally:
Open Contacts
Select a contact
Tap Edit
Look for Ringtone or Set ringtone
(sometimes under More options)
Choose a custom tone → Save
📌 Notes & Troubleshooting
Beside always follows your device’s ringtone, not an in-app setting
Custom ringtones apply to Beside calls too. By customizing ringtones for your contacts, Beside will play these personalized tones when they reach out to you, making sure you know who's calling without looking.
If you're not hearing tones, make sure:
Your device is not in Silent Mode
Volume is turned up
Focus Mode / Do Not Disturb is off
If you’re not hearing your ringtone, restart your phone or check system-level sound permissions
