🎙️ What is the In-Person Recorder?
The In-Person Recorder (Voice Memo) is Beside’s built-in tool for capturing spoken conversations outside of phone calls or meetings.
With it, you can:
Record meetings or voice notes in real time
Get high-accuracy transcripts
Receive AI summaries with key points and action items
Store everything directly inside Beside
No manual note-taking required.

🎙️ How to record?
📱 On mobile
Open the Beside app
Go to Settings
Toggle In-Person Recorder
On the main screen, tap the red floating button labeled In-Person Recorder (a red dot)
Tap once to begin recording (a timer will display your progress)
Tap again to stop recording
Beside will automatically transcribe and summarize the memo for you
Advanced recording features
With Live Activity support, your recording continues even if you minimize the app or lock your screen, with status updates visible at a glance.
If your voice recording is interrupted by a phone call, the recorder will resume automatically once the call ends, so you won’t lose your notes

On desktop, the In-Person Recorder lives in your left sidebar.
Open Beside on macOS
Click New Recording in the sidebar
Record your meeting or notes
End the recording to generate a transcript and summary

📱 On mobile
All voice memos and meeting summaries are saved under the Memos tab at the top of your Beside inbox.

Open the memo you want to share
Tap Share and choose one of the available methods:

Notes (iOS)

Or tap Other for more options
