Beside on Apple Watch

Use Beside with Apple Watch - see which notifications appear on your watch and why Beside calls don't ring on watchOS.

Beside works with Apple Watch for notifications, but not yet for calls. Here's what you can expect.

Calls on Apple Watch

❌ Incoming Beside calls will not ring on your Apple Watch.

This is a known limitation related to Apple's system architecture for third-party calling apps on iOS and watchOS - similar to how it works for other apps like WhatsApp and Messenger.

Your iPhone will ring normally, but your Apple Watch will not display or ring for the call.

You cannot answer or decline Beside calls from the watch.

πŸ“Œ Note:

  • If your iPhone is in another room, your Apple Watch will not ring or alert you to an incoming Beside call.

  • You will only receive a missed call notification after the call ends.

Notifications on Apple Watch

βœ… Push notifications from Beside do appear on your Apple Watch.

You'll receive the following on your watch:

  • New message notifications (texts, voicemails, AI replies)

  • Missed call notifications

  • AI Receptionist summaries

  • Voicemail alerts

These notifications mirror from iOS as long as:

  • Notifications are enabled for Beside in iOS Settings

  • Your Apple Watch is set to mirror iPhone alerts

πŸ“Œ Note on replying:

  • You can dismiss Beside notifications from your Apple Watch, but you cannot reply to messages directly from the watch.

  • Replies require the Beside app on iPhone.

Why calls don't ring on Apple Watch

Apple requires apps to build a dedicated watchOS app to enable full call functionality on Apple Watch.

Beside would need a specific watchOS version to support this - something we're keeping on our radar as we monitor demand.

FAQ

My Beside notifications aren't showing up on my Apple Watch. How do I fix it?

Check the following:

  • Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Beside on your iPhone and make sure notifications are enabled

  • On your Apple Watch, go to Settings β†’ Notifications and confirm Beside is set to mirror your iPhone

  • Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are connected (Bluetooth on, watch in range)

  • If your iPhone screen is unlocked and active, notifications may go to the phone instead of the watch - this is normal Apple behavior

Is a Beside Apple Watch app planned?

There is no dedicated Apple Watch app planned at this time. We're monitoring demand and will consider it for a future release. If this is important to you, let us know via the feedback button in the app.
