Most local businesses run on a stack of separate tools: an answering service, a review app, a website builder, someone for the ads. Each one sees a single piece of the business, and nobody connects them.
Beside works on all of those pieces, and each one feeds the next. The call becomes a job, the finished job brings a review, the review strengthens your Google profile, and a stronger profile brings the next call. This article walks through that loop step by step: what Beside does, what each step needs from you, and where to read more.
The loop, step by step
1. A call or a form becomes a lead
Someone needs a leak fixed or a house cleaned, and they call you. Your Receptionist picks up when you can't, takes the details and leaves you a summary. Beside turns that call into a request and lists it under Jobs in the left menu.
The other doors work the same way: a form or a booking on the website Beside built for you, and a call to the tracked number on one of your ads. Callers who hang up before explaining anything can get a text back from your line (Text back after missed calls, on by default when you connect a number at agent.beside.com), and their reply becomes a request if they need something.
2. The lead is followed to booked, done and paid
Most people don't book on the first message. They are comparing quotes or checking with someone at home. Beside keeps track of where each request stands, Received, Contacted, Booked, Done and Paid, and proposes the follow-up text when a lead goes quiet. Texts to new leads wait for your approval until you decide otherwise.
Beside never calls anyone for you. When a call back is needed, it tells you who and why, and you make the call.
3. The finished job leads to a review request
A customer whose AC was just fixed is happy now. Two weeks later, they have moved on. So once a job is done, Beside texts the customer asking for a Google review, about 30 minutes after it learns the job is finished.
It happens on its own when Automatic review SMS is turned on, and Beside learns the job is done from one of these:
Housecall Pro, GoHighLevel or Follow Up Boss report the job as completed (or, for Housecall Pro, paid)
You mark the job Done or Paid under Jobs
A finished appointment in Google Calendar or a customer you emailed about finished work produces a suggestion that waits for your approval, unless you allow it in that connector's settings. A job mentioned on a phone call always asks first.
💡 Google reviews only: Beside asks for Google reviews, because your Google profile is what customers see on Maps. It never asks customers for Yelp reviews: Yelp's rules forbid asking for them.
4. Reviews and posts strengthen your Google profile
Customers compare two or three businesses in a few seconds, and fresh reviews with thoughtful replies make you the safe choice. Beside drafts a reply to every review in your voice, turns photos of your work into posts, and checks your profile every week for missing or outdated details.
Your rating, how many new reviews arrive each month and how many of them you answered all count toward the Reputation score in your Marketing Audit, so you can see the effect over time.
5. Your profile and website bring the next calls
Most local customers find you on Google Maps, in Google Search or in an AI answer. Beside picks the searches that matter most for your business, keeps them steady for at least six weeks, and focuses its work on them.
Your website then does its part: its forms and booking page land in Jobs as requests. That brings you back to step 1.
6. Ads scale what already works
Ads put you at the top of the page this week, while your profile and reviews build up. But they only pay off when someone answers. With paid ads, every missed call is money you already spent, so get your Receptionist and your follow-up in place before you spend more.
Because the same system answers the call and tracks the job, Beside can follow an ad lead all the way to an invoice, and show you what your ads really brought in. Every change to your ad account waits for your approval.
What each step needs
Each step works on its own. The loop gets stronger as Beside can see more of it:
Step | What it needs |
Calls become leads | Your number on Beside Phone, by forwarding or porting, with your Receptionist on. Website forms need the website Beside built and publishes. |
Leads followed to paid | Housecall Pro, GoHighLevel or Follow Up Boss connected, or you marking jobs Booked, Done and Paid under Jobs. |
Review requests | Automatic review SMS turned on (it starts off), and a way for Beside to know the job is done. |
Replies and posts | Your Google Business Profile connected, and photos of your work for posts. |
Ads | Your own Google Ads account connected, and calls answered first. |
Why this beats separate tools or an agency
Separate tools each see one piece. The review app doesn't know a job is finished unless someone tells it. The answering service takes a message, and the message stops there. An agency reports on clicks once a month, without knowing which of those clicks became a paying customer.
Beside sees the whole path, from the first call to the invoice to the review that brings the next customer, and works on it every day:
Nothing falls between tools. The call, the job and the review request are one thread, so no step depends on someone remembering to copy something across.
It does the work. You don't get another dashboard to check. Beside brings you what it plans to do, and you approve it.
You see what it brings you. Because it follows a lead to paid, it can show you real numbers, not clicks.
FAQ
Do I need every piece for Beside to help?
Do I need every piece for Beside to help?
No. Each piece works on its own, and many owners start with one, like answering every call or getting more reviews. The loop simply gets stronger as Beside can see more of your business.
My jobs are finished but nobody is asked for a review. Why?
My jobs are finished but nobody is asked for a review. Why?
Automatic review requests start switched off, because asking your customers for anything in your name is your decision. Turn on Automatic review SMS, then make sure Beside can tell a job is done: a connected Housecall Pro, GoHighLevel or Follow Up Boss, or marking the job Done under Jobs. 📖 Get more reviews from your customers
My jobs live in a tool Beside doesn't connect to. Does the loop still work?
My jobs live in a tool Beside doesn't connect to. Does the loop still work?
Yes. Mark the job Done or Paid under Jobs and Beside takes it from there. If your appointments are in Google Calendar, connecting it lets Beside suggest review requests for finished visits.
Does Beside call my leads back?
Does Beside call my leads back?
No. Beside never dials your callers or leads. It tells you who to call back and why, and can propose a text for you to approve.
Should I start with ads?
Should I start with ads?
Usually not. Get your calls answered and your follow-up in place first. With ads, every missed call is money already spent, so answering every call makes each ad dollar count.
Does Beside do all of this without asking me?
Does Beside do all of this without asking me?
Only what you allow. Review replies, posts, website publishing, ad changes and texts to new leads start out waiting for your approval. You can let Beside handle more on its own, area by area, as you get to trust it. 📖 Choose what Beside can do on its own
