How do I fix calls not ringing?

Learn how to fix issues where incoming calls don’t ring inside Beside, ring silently, or are routed incorrectly.

When calls don’t ring in Beside, the cause is almost always one of the following:

  • Your device settings are silencing calls

  • Your Notification Schedule or AI Receptionist settings are taking over

  • Your internet connection is unstable

  • Call forwarding (from your primary number) is not properly enabled

This guide walks you through each possible cause.


1️⃣ Your phone isn’t ringing (system or app settings)

🔕 Notification Schedule are blocking calls

If Notification Schedule is ON, Beside won’t ring outside your selected schedule: your AI Receptionist will answer instead.

How to check:

  1. Open Beside

  2. Go to Settings → Your inbox → Under Notifications: Notification Schedule

  3. Make sure the schedule matches when you want to receive calls

🚫 Phone device settings are silencing calls

Make sure the following settings on your phone are not interfering with calls.

Check the following in your phone Settings:

  • Silence Unknown Callers → should be OFF

  • Focus / Do Not Disturb → should be OFF

  • Ringer volume → make sure it’s not muted

  • Bluetooth devices → ensure audio isn’t routed to headphones

🛜 Your internet connection is unstable

Beside relies on a strong and stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection for calls. Check your internet connection and try:

  • Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data

  • Restarting your router

  • Moving to a location with better signal

2️⃣ Calls aren’t being forwarded to Beside

(Only applies if you’re using Beside with your primary SIM number)

If callers are dialing your main phone number, but calls aren’t ringing in Beside, the issue is almost always that call forwarding isn’t active at the carrier level

This usually means call forwarding wasn't properly set up.

👉 To check your configuration:

  1. Open the Beside app.

  2. Go to the Settings tab.

  3. Scroll to the Beside Number section.

  4. Tap Call Forwarding.

  5. Tap "Setup Call Forwarding" and follow the instructions.

  • ✔️ Confirm call forwarding is enabled (if using your primary number)
