What your Beside agent can see and do

Exactly what your agent reads, what it can change on its own, and how to check any of it - the permission model, the audit trail on every task, and how to take access back.

Handing an AI agent the keys to your business is a reasonable thing to be careful about. This article says plainly what your agent can see, what it can change, and how to check any of it yourself.

The short version: it sees only what you connect, it acts only where you have allowed it, and everything it does is on the record.

What your agent can see

Three things, and nothing else.

What is already public about you

From the moment you run your free audit, before you connect anything: your Google listing, your public reviews, your photos, your website, and the businesses Google puts next to you. This is what any customer could look up.

What you connect

Each connector is a door you open deliberately, through the provider's own sign-in screen. Your Google Business Profile, your calendar, your inbox, your customer system, your Google Ads, your Beside phone line.

Beside never sees your passwords. You approve the access on the provider's side, and you can withdraw it at any time from Connectors. 📖 Connect your tools to Beside Agentic

What you tell it

Your Business Profile, and anything you put in your Library - notes, price lists, PDFs, voice memos, photos. Your agent reads these before it writes anything.

Disconnect anything, at any time: Withdraw a connector from Connectors and your agent stops reading that tool immediately, along with any work that depended on it.

What your agent can do

Your agent works in two steps that are deliberately kept apart: deciding and doing.

Watching your business, working out what is worth doing, and putting a plan in front of you changes nothing and costs you nothing. Something only happens to your business at the moment work is carried out - and that step is gated.

The two gates

Gate

What it controls

Per tool

Whether your agent may act with a given tool at all. You answer Allow or Ask first, separately for each one, and you can keep some on Ask first indefinitely.

Per plan

Whether a specific piece of work goes ahead. Your agent shows you what it noticed, what it would change, and how it will know the job is done. You choose Approve plan, Skip, or Revise.

It spends credits, never money

Your agent cannot bill you. When your credits run out it pauses new work rather than charging you for more - buying credits or changing your work mode are decisions only you make.

How to check what it did

Every task your agent finishes keeps its own record, so the question who decided this always has an answer.

Open any item on your Beside Agent page and look at Audit details:

  • Who approved it says plainly whether you approved the plan or your agent started the task automatically under a permission you granted

  • A Timeline records each step with its source and timestamp, from the moment the work was authorized through to the confirmation from the tool at the other end

  • Technical references hold the identifiers our support team may ask you for

How to stop it

  • One job: open the recurring task on your Beside Agent page and select Pause automation. Everything else keeps running.

  • One tool: switch it from Allow back to Ask first, or disconnect it entirely from Connectors.

  • A specific plan: choose Skip rather than approving it.

How Beside stores, protects and hosts your data is the same for your agent as for the rest of Beside:

FAQ

Will my agent contact my customers without me knowing?

Only where you have chosen Allow for the tool it would use. On Ask first, it checks with you every time. Either way, anything that was sent appears under Done on your Beside Agent page with a record of what went out and who authorized it - so nothing reaches a customer without leaving a trace you can read.

Is anything read-only?

Yes. Your free audit reads only what is already public and changes nothing. And a newly connected tool starts read-only: your agent studies it and asks separately before it is allowed to act with it.

Can I undo something my agent did?

It depends where the change landed - a review reply lives on Google, a listing change on your Google Business Profile. The task record links straight to what changed, so you can go and correct it at the source. If you are not sure, the Support chat in the app can help.

Who on my team can see all this?

Your agent's work, its connectors and its audit trail belong to the business, not to one person - anyone with access to that business in Beside sees the same thing.
