🧭 What the Business plan does
The Business plan (previously called Multiple Lines and Share Lines) lets you create and manage several phone lines - also called inboxes - under a single Beside account.
Each line has its own phone number, message and call history, AI Receptionist, and settings.
This functionality is particularly beneficial for managing multiple businesses, where each business can operate under its unique phone number, settings, and inbox. This is ideal when you want to:
Run multiple businesses
Keep personal and work calls separate
Use different phone numbers for different clients or activities
💼 What’s included in the Business plan
Add as many phone lines as you need (up to 5 right now)
Each line comes with:
Its own inbox and phone number
Separate AI Receptionist
Independent Caller ID, Call Forwarding, and Voicemail settings
Custom name, icon for easy organization
Centralized billing for all lines (handled by Apple)
📌 Note: Some features like calendar scheduling are still set at the account level for now.
🌀 How to switch to the Business plan
You can upgrade from the Starter plan anytime after onboarding.
Open the Beside app.
💡 Ensure the Beside app is updated to the latest version for access to the Business plan features.
Go to Settings > Manage Plan
Select Business plan and confirm your subscription
👉 Once upgraded, you can add as many lines as you need (up to 5 right now) at no additional cost.
ℹ️ Important:
You can only upgrade or modify your plan from the platform where you originally subscribed.
Starter purchased on Apple Store → upgrade must be done on Apple Store
Starter purchased on Google Play Store → upgrade must be done on Google Play Store
Google cannot modify an Apple subscription, Apple cannot modify a Google subscription.
This prevents you from being charged twice.
➕ How to add a new line
Go to Settings → Inboxes
Tap New Inbox
Choose a new phone number
Name your inbox and select an icon and color to help you stay organized
and Set up the AI Receptionist of this new line
That’s it - your new inbox will appear in your Inbox list with its own settings and call/message history.
ℹ️ Need to change the name or icon later? You can update them anytime. Just go to Settings → Select the inbox → Edit Inbox.
🔄 Switching between lines
Once you have multiple inboxes, you'll see a dropdown in your Inbox view:
Tap the Inbox selector dropdown at the top of your Inbox view
Filter messages and calls by inbox
Choose which line to use when calling or texting
Beside will remember your preference per contact, but you can manually change it anytime from the Contact Card.
🗑️ Remove a line/inbox
Go to Settings → Inboxes
Select the inbox you want to remove
Scroll to the bottom
Tap Delete Inbox
Confirm the deletion
ℹ️ What happens after you delete a line?
The line disappears from your home, settings, and all dropdown menus
Any teammates with access to this inbox are automatically removed
Your billing stays the same: deleting a line does not impact your subscription

Yes, if you’re on the Business plan, you can now add teammates to your inboxes.
Each inbox under your Business subscription can include several teammates who can:
Collaborate on calls, messages, and voicemail activity
Share access to contacts and conversation history
Co-manage settings like the AI Receptionist and call handling options
To add teammates:
Open the Beside app
Go to Settings → Inboxes
Select the inbox you want to share
Tap Members → Invite
Send the link to your teammate via SMS, email, or any messaging app.
💡 You remain the account owner and can manage who has access to each inbox individually.
Will I lose data when upgrading to Business plan?

No. Your messages, calls, and settings remain intact when switching plans.
What changes when I downgrade to the Starter plan?
What changes when I downgrade to the Starter plan?
Yes, you can switch back to Starter anytime from Settings → Manage Plan.
If you downgrade:
The downgrade will take effect at the end of your current billing period.
You will lose access to additional lines included in your current plan.
All team members will lose access to shared inboxes, and Team Inboxes will be deactivated.
Your initial line and Personal Inbox will remain active.
Your additional inboxes won’t be deleted but will become inactive.
Inbox-specific filters and settings will be hidden until you upgrade again.
Your previous conversations will remain visible, but their original inbox association won’t be shown.
