Manage your notifications

Customize how and when Beside notifies you - per line or across the entire app. Mute calls, messages, set schedules, and manage Daily Recap and email notifications.

Beside gives you two types of notification controls: settings that apply to a specific Beside line, and settings that apply to the entire app. If you have multiple lines, each one can have its own notification preferences.

Line-level notification settings

These settings control how notifications behave for a specific line.

Open the Beside mobile app β†’ go to Settings.

On a πŸ‘€ Starter plan, scroll down to Notifications.

On a πŸ‘₯ Business plan, tap the line you want to manage under Phone Numbers, then scroll to Notifications.

Silence Unknown Callers

Automatically silence calls from unknown numbers by sending them straight to voicemail.

Business Hours

Choose when you want to receive call and text notifications for a specific line. During your set hours, calls and messages notify you normally. Outside those hours, the line stays quiet and calls go to voicemail.

On shared lines, this is a shared setting - any invited member who changes it updates the schedule for everyone on that line.

Mute calls and messages

Mute incoming call notifications, message notifications, or both for a specific line - just for you, without affecting other invited members.

  • Mute Incoming Calls - your phone won't ring for this line. You'll still see missed calls in your call history.

  • Mute messages - message notifications are silenced for you. You'll still see new messages in the app.

From the mobile app

Open the Beside mobile app β†’ go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Muting Preferences, pick the line you want to manage, then toggle Mute Incoming Calls and/or Mute messages.

From Beside on the web

Go to app.beside.com β†’ click Settings in the sidebar, then Phone Numbers under Workspace β†’ pick the line you want to manage β†’ Personal tab β†’ Mute Line β†’ toggle Mute Incoming Calls and/or Mute messages.

πŸ’‘ Mute Line vs Business Hours: Business Hours is a shared setting that controls when the entire line is active - for everyone on the line. Mute Line is a personal setting - it lets you mute calls or messages for yourself without changing anything for others.

App-level notification settings

These settings apply to the entire Beside app and affect all lines. Access them from Settings β†’ Notifications in the Beside mobile app.

Daily Recap

Control whether you receive a daily summary of your Beside activity and when it's delivered.

Go to Settings β†’ Notifications β†’ Daily Recap in the Beside mobile app β†’ toggle Daily Recap on or off and select your preferred delivery time.

πŸ“Œ Mobile only: Daily Recap is currently configured from the Beside mobile app. It is delivered once per day at your selected time and applies globally to your account. If you have multiple lines, you receive one recap covering all of them.

Email call summaries

⚠️ πŸ‘₯ Business plan feature. Starter accounts created before January 22, 2026 also have access (grandfathered). Starter accounts created on or after that date need to upgrade to πŸ‘₯ Business.

Receive call summaries and transcripts by email after each call, including ones answered by your AI Receptionist.

πŸ“Œ Setup depends on your number of lines. On a single-line account, email call summaries is configured directly from the main Settings screen. On a multi-line account (πŸ‘₯ Business plan with 2+ lines), call summaries are configured per line, and the destination email is set globally for the whole account.

  4. Under Send to, set the email address where summaries should be delivered.

On a multi-line account (iPhone & Android)

When you have multiple lines (πŸ‘₯ Business plan), call summaries are configured per line, and the destination email is set once at the account level.

Set the destination email (one for all lines)

  1. Open the Beside mobile app β†’ go to Settings.

Destination email at a glance

Summaries are sent to a destination email address you control.

  • Mobile (single-line): set in the Email Call Summaries screen, under Send to.

  • Mobile (multi-line): set globally in Settings β†’ Email Notifications β†’ Send to. One destination applies to all your lines.

  • Beside on the web: set per line under Settings β†’ Phone Numbers β†’ line β†’ Personal β†’ Email Notifications β†’ Send to.

πŸ“Œ Heads-up: Changing the destination email here does not update your Apple ID or login email.

FAQ

Can I mute calls but still receive message notifications?

Yes. The two toggles in Mute Line are independent. You can mute incoming calls while keeping message notifications on, or vice versa.

What happens if all invited members mute incoming calls on a shared line?

If every invited member has Mute Incoming Calls turned on, no one will ring. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail or your AI Receptionist if it's enabled.

Do muted calls still appear in my call history?

Yes. When you mute incoming calls, your phone won't ring, but the call is still logged in your call history so you can review and return it later.

Does muting a line affect my AI Receptionist?

No. Your AI Receptionist works independently of your personal mute settings. If it's enabled and a call goes unanswered, it will still pick up as configured.

Is Mute Line the same as Business Hours?

No. Business Hours is a shared setting that controls when the entire line is active based on a time window - it applies to all invited members. Mute Line is personal - it lets you mute calls or messages for yourself at any time without affecting others.

Why am I only getting email summaries for some calls?

Email Call Summaries can be set per line on multi-line accounts and on the web app. If you're missing summaries for calls handled by your AI Receptionist, make sure the line is set to All calls, not Only calls I participated in.
