Your agent can only work on what it can see. Connectors, in Settings and in Beside's profile, is where you plug in the tools your business already runs on.
Each one you connect turns on a part of what Beside can do. That is the single biggest reason two businesses get very different amounts of work out of the same plan.
Connect a tool
Open Settings → Connectors and select the tool you want to add. Most connect through the provider's own sign-in screen - you approve the access there, and Beside never sees your password. Yelp is the exception: there is no sign-in, you pick or paste the link to your business page.
Each connector then shows its state: Connected, Not connected, Needs attention if the link has expired or broken, or Coming soon for the ones we are still building.
The list on that page is always the current one - it grows as we add providers, so it is worth a look rather than trusting a list written down somewhere.
What each kind of tool unlocks
Connect this | And your agent can |
Google Business Profile | Read and reply to your reviews, keep your listing accurate, post updates, and pull your photos onto your website. The single most useful connector. |
Yelp | Read your public Yelp reviews every week, show them next to your Google reviews and in your weekly digest, and write a reply to each unanswered one for you to post on Yelp yourself. |
Your customer system | See your jobs and quotes - which is what lets it chase the quote that never closed, spot customers about to lapse, and ask for a review once a job is done. Running a clinic? 📖 Connect Beside with Jane |
Your calendar | Know when you are free, so the work it plans and its follow-ups are timed around your day. With Google Calendar, it can also add, move and cancel events on the calendars you tick under Calendars, as long as the connected account can edit them. Time blocked just for you goes ahead on its own; anything with guests waits for your approval unless you change it in Autonomy. Your Receptionist does not book with this connection. It books into the calendar chosen under Settings → Receptionist → Call Handling → Calendar integration, where Google Calendar connects through your Beside Phone sign-in. 📖 Schedule appointments with your Receptionist |
Your inbox | See the conversations that happen by email, not just by phone, and draft replies. |
Google Contacts | Hand over your customer list, so your agent recognizes people it has not yet met through your line, your inbox or your calendar. Without it, it asks you for a number rather than guessing one. |
Your WordPress website | Work on the site you already have, in place: rewrite pages, swap photos, fix menus and add lead forms, with every change reviewed before it goes live. |
Google Search Console | Report how often you come up in Google results, how many people clicked, and what they searched to find you. |
Google Ads | Read how your campaigns are really performing and propose one improvement at a time. |
Beside Phone | Your calls and texts - already there if you have a Beside line, and where most of what happens with your customers actually happens. |
💡 If you only connect one thing: Connect your Google Business Profile. It is what your customers see before they call you, and it unlocks your reviews, your listing and your website photos in one go. 📖 Connect your Google Business Profile
Connecting is not the same as allowing
Connecting a tool lets your agent read it. Acting with it is a separate decision, and Beside asks for it separately.
You will see a request in the Review list in Chat, for example Beside wants to use Google Business on its own. Choose:
Allow, and your agent can act with that tool without asking again (Always allow)
Reject, and it keeps checking with you every time (Always ask)
The choice is made per tool, so you can let your agent run freely on some and keep a hand on others. You can change it later in Autonomy.
Connectors and your phone integrations are not the same thing
Beside has two ways of talking to your CRM, and they do different jobs:
Phone integrations push what happens on your line into your CRM - contacts synced, calls and summaries logged. 📖 CRM and app integrations
Connectors let your agent read from your CRM, so it knows about your jobs and quotes and can act on them.
Connecting the same system in both places is normal, and they do not conflict.
FAQ
Do I have to connect anything?
Do I have to connect anything?
No, and your agent still works - it will build your website, study your market and read your public reviews from the start. But chasing quotes, timing follow-ups and asking for reviews all depend on seeing your jobs, so without a customer system connected your agent has much less to act on.
Can I connect two accounts for the same tool?
Can I connect two accounts for the same tool?
No. Each business connects one account per tool, so one Google Calendar, one inbox, one Google Business Profile. Connecting a second account replaces the first rather than adding to it.
If you genuinely run two businesses, give each one its own workspace and connect its own accounts there. 📖 Run several businesses from one account
Which calendar does Beside put new events on?
Which calendar does Beside put new events on?
One of the calendars you ticked under Calendars on the Google Calendar connector, and only one the connected Google account can edit. If several qualify, Beside uses the one where events of that kind already are, or asks you. Moving or cancelling an event happens on the calendar it is already on.
If Beside says it can only read a calendar, give the connected account edit access to it in Google Calendar, or pick another one.
Can Beside reply to my Yelp reviews?
Can Beside reply to my Yelp reviews?
It writes the replies, and you post them. Beside cannot post on Yelp, so it gives you one to-do with a reply ready for each unanswered review, to copy and post from your business account on Yelp. 📖 Request and manage your reviews
A connector says "Needs attention". What do I do?
A connector says "Needs attention". What do I do?
The link to that tool has expired or been revoked on the provider's side - a password change or a permission withdrawn is usually enough. Select Reconnect and sign in again. Until you do, anything that depends on that tool waits.
Can I disconnect a tool later?
Can I disconnect a tool later?
Yes, at any time, from Settings → Connectors. Your agent immediately stops reading it and stops any work that depended on it.

Can I connect Square?
Can I connect Square?
Not yet. Square is in the list marked Coming soon, and that tile covers Square Appointments as well. Square Online, for a website hosted there, is listed separately and is also coming soon.
Until then your agent cannot read your Square customers, appointments or payments, so a customer system it can read is the better place to start.
Can I connect Instagram?
Can I connect Instagram?
There is no Instagram connection to make. Beside does read your public Instagram profile without any sign-in, to gather your own photos for your website and your Google posts and to see how active the account is.
It cannot post to Instagram, read your messages or see anything private there. The Facebook tile, which covers Pages and Meta Ads, is in the list marked Coming soon.
