Beside lets you collaborate with your team in real time on calls, messages, voicemails, and AI Receptionist activity, all from the same shared phone number.
π Plan availability:
Beside subscription: included. Add seats and lines as you grow.
π₯ Business (legacy): included with 3 seats and 3 lines by default.
π€ Starter (legacy): not available. To add invited members, move to a Beside subscription on Stripe.
How team collaboration works
When you sign up, Beside automatically creates your first line. This is where all your calls, messages, and AI Receptionist activity live.
Adding teammates lets you share lines across your team, collaborate on calls, messages, and AI activity, create internal group chats, and manage billing directly from π Beside on the web.
How pricing works
Pricing depends on which plan you're on. See π Plans and pricing for full details.
On the Beside subscription
Every seat is $29.99/month or $199.99/year. Each seat includes 1 phone line. Need more lines than seats? Add them at $4.99/month each.
Per seat | Per extra line |
$29.99/mo or $199.99/yr (includes 1 phone line) | $4.99/mo |
Seats and lines are counted at the organization level, not per line. A member added to 3 different shared lines still only occupies 1 seat.
On π₯ Business (legacy)
The π₯ Business plan includes 3 seats and 3 lines for $49.99/month or $299.99/year. You (the account owner) count as 1 seat, so that's 2 additional seats and 2 additional lines available from the start at no extra cost.
What you're adding | Cost |
A 4th seat (team member) | $29.99/seat/month, also unlocks 1 extra line |
A 4th line (without adding a seat) | $4.99/line/month |
π Adding a seat always unlocks 1 additional line. Adding a line on its own does not unlock a seat.
Add a seat
How you add a seat depends on your plan.
On the Beside subscription
You can add seats anytime from Beside on the web. Two ways:
From Plan & Billing:
Go to app.beside.com β Settings β Plan & Billing
Click Manage seats
Use + and - to adjust your seat count
Review the prorated charge for the rest of your billing cycle
Confirm to apply
From Members (auto-add on invite):
Go to Members β click Invite
If all included seats are in use, you'll see a confirmation modal with the prorated cost
Confirm to send the invite and add the seat at the same time
π‘ Proration:
Adding a seat charges a prorated amount immediately for the rest of your current billing cycle, then the new total at your next renewal.
Removing a seat takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
On legacy π€ Starter or π₯ Business
Your first extra seat (4th on π₯ Business, 2nd on π€ Starter) triggers a Stripe checkout that moves your billing from Apple/Google to Beside on Stripe.
On iPhone (US only):
Tap Invite Member or Add phone numbers - you'll see an upgrade card instead of the usual invite flow
Tap to confirm - Safari opens with a checkout page showing the cost for the additional seat
The time remaining on your App Store subscription is automatically credited - you only pay the difference
Complete checkout - you're taken back to the app and can send the invite right away
On Android (US only):
Tap Invite Member or Add phone numbers - you'll see an upgrade prompt instead of the usual invite flow
Enter your billing email in the bottom sheet, then tap to confirm - your browser opens with a Stripe checkout page showing the cost for the additional seat
The time remaining on your Google Play subscription is automatically credited - you only pay the difference
Complete checkout - you're taken back to the app and can send the invite right away
β οΈ Cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription after upgrading. Once you've completed the checkout, you'll have both your mobile store subscription (App Store or Google Play) and a Beside subscription running at the same time. Cancel your mobile store subscription to avoid being charged twice.
π Canadian accounts: The in-app upgrade flow is not available for Canadian accounts on mobile. Go to app.beside.com, then Settings, then Plan & Billing to upgrade instead.
From Beside on the web:
Click Invite - you'll see an "Upgrade required" prompt
Click Upgrade - you're redirected to Settings, then Plan & Billing to complete the upgrade
Invite members to your organization
Invitations are sent at the organization level. Once someone joins your org, you can give them access to specific lines. If you've used all your included seats, sending an invite will prompt you to add one. See Add a seat above for the flow on each plan.
From the mobile app
Open the Beside mobile app, then go to Settings
Scroll down to Your Account, then tap Members
Tap Invite Member
Enter your member's email address
Select which line(s) you want them to access, then tap Send invite
From Beside on the web
Go to app.beside.com and sign in
Click Settings in the sidebar, then Members under Workspace
Click the Invite button (top right)
Enter the email address and send the invitation
Your member will receive an invitation by email. They'll tap Accept invitation and follow the steps to join your organization.
π Once they've joined, members will have access to the full history of every line they've been added to, including calls, messages, voicemails, and AI Receptionist interactions. On the web, the Members page also shows your total team member count, remaining seats, and any pending invitations.
Roles and permissions
Beside has two levels of roles - organization-level and line-level - that control what each person can see and do.
Manage your team's access
From the mobile app
Go to Settings, then Your Account, then Members. From there you can resend or cancel a pending invite, edit which lines an active member can access, or remove a member from the org.
From Beside on the web
Go to app.beside.com, click Settings, then Members under Workspace. Each member has a β― menu with the following actions:
Make Admin / Make Member - toggles the member's org role
Manage inboxes - choose which lines the member has access to, and set their role per line
Remove member - removes them from your organization immediately
For pending invitations, the β― menu offers:
Resend invite - sends the invitation email again
Cancel invite - cancels the pending invitation
π You can also switch between organizations using the workspace dropdown at the top of the left sidebar.
What your team members can do
Members added to a line have full visibility into everything that appears there: calls and call summaries, messages, voicemails, voice memos, and AI Receptionist call logs and transcripts. They also have access to the entire conversation history, not just activity that happens after they join.
What remains private
Your device's contact list stays private. Even if you granted Beside access to your phone contacts, other members only see phone numbers of people you've called or messaged through Beside.
π If you're forwarding calls from your existing number to Beside, forwarding only applies to calls. Texts sent or received on your existing number outside of Beside will not appear in your line or be visible to your team

What's the difference between adding a seat and adding a line?
What's the difference between adding a seat and adding a line?
A seat ($29.99/month) lets you invite a new team member and includes 1 phone line. A line ($4.99/month) is an extra phone number without adding a team member. If you need both, adding a seat is the better value because it includes a line.
How many lines are included with π₯ Business?

Can I just share my login with my partner or coworker instead of inviting them as a member?
Can I just share my login with my partner or coworker instead of inviting them as a member?
It depends on how you'll use Beside together.
Sharing a login works if: only one of you uses the app at a time - for example, you set up the account but your partner runs the business day-to-day. You both sign in with the same method (Apple, Google, or email) on your respective devices. This is the only option on π€ Starter without upgrading, since invited members are not supported on that plan.
Inviting them as a member is better if: you'll both use Beside at the same time, you want each person to have their own identity on calls and messages, or you want to control which lines they can access. On π€ Starter, tapping Invite Member triggers an upgrade to the Beside subscription on Stripe (see Add a seat above).
Note: shared logins do not provide separate "who answered" attribution, separate notifications, or per-person line access controls. If those matter, invite them as a member instead.
When a teammate calls me from our shared line, why do I see their name instead of the line's number?
When a teammate calls me from our shared line, why do I see their name instead of the line's number?
Calls placed from a shared line using the Beside app currently show the teammate's name in your call history, not the shared line's phone number. This is a display-only behavior - behind the scenes, Beside uses the line's phone number for contact matching, Silence Unknown Callers, and AI Receptionist exclusion rules.
