From the Beside mobile app
Open Beside β go to Settings
Under Phone Numbers β tap + New phone number
Choose the number for your new line
Name and customize the line
Set up the AI Receptionist for this line (voice, name, company, operating hours, greeting, and call handling scope)

Click New Number (top right)

Adding a 4th line - what happens
The π₯ Business plan includes 3 lines. When you try to add a 4th, you'll see an upgrade prompt directly in the app.
On iPhone (US only):
Tap + New phone number - you'll see an upgrade card instead of the usual setup flow
Tap to confirm - Safari opens with a checkout page
The time remaining on your App Store subscription is automatically credited - you only pay the difference
Complete checkout - you're taken back to the app and can add your new line right away
β οΈ Cancel your App Store subscription after upgrading. Once you've completed the checkout, you'll have both an App Store subscription and a Beside subscription running at the same time. Cancel your App Store subscription to avoid being charged twice.
π Current limitations: On Android and for Canadian accounts, the in-app upgrade flow is not available. Go to app.beside.com β Settings β Plans & Billing to upgrade instead.
Switch between lines
Once you have multiple lines, a Lines selector dropdown appears at the top left of your main tab. Tap it and select the line you want to view - this filters your conversation history to show calls and messages for that line only.
What is the Personal Inbox?
When you have more than one line, you'll also see a Personal Inbox in the line selector. This is not tied to a phone number - it's a private space just for you. It contains:
Voice recordings from the in-app In-Person Recorder
Meeting captures from Beside for macOS
Daily Recaps from all your lines
Team DMs with other Beside users
Any item marked with a π lock
Assign a contact to a specific line
Beside remembers your preferred line for each contact, but you can change it anytime from the contact's card.
On iPhone
Open Beside β go to your main tab
Open the conversation with the contact you want to update
Tap the contact's name or phone number at the top of the conversation
Under their profile picture, tap to select the line you want to assign them to
Once assigned, calls and messages to that contact will use the selected line by default.
Manage a line's settings from the web dashboard
Go to app.beside.com β click Phone Numbers in the left sidebar β click any line to open its settings page. From there you can manage:
Edit Inbox - update the inbox name, color, and icon
Configure Number - view your Beside number; change or port it from the mobile app (coming soon on web)
Users - add or remove members from this inbox directly, using the Add Users button
Business Hours - enable business hours and set the schedule (day range, start time, end time) so notifications are silenced outside those hours
Mute Line (Personal Setting) - mute incoming calls or messages for yourself only, without affecting other team members
Compliance & Privacy - toggle Silence Unknown Callers, Recording Consent, and Auto Censor Messages
Delete a line
From the mobile app
Open Beside β go to Settings
Under Phone Numbers, tap the line you want to delete
Scroll down to Manage β tap Delete Inbox
Confirm deletion
From the web dashboard
Go to app.beside.com β click Phone Numbers in the left sidebar
Click the line you want to delete
Scroll down to Danger Zone β click Delete inbox
Confirm deletion
β οΈ Deletion is permanent. All chats, call logs, and settings for that line are permanently removed. Invited members who had access are automatically removed. Deleting a line does not affect your subscription - downgrade separately from Settings β Your Account β Plan & Billing if needed.
